In March 2023, SwitcH2 B.V. achieved Approval in Principle from DNV for its FPSO design principles, validating the feasibility and potential of their renewable ammonia production concept. BWO contributed to the project by developing the topside arrangement, hull, and mooring system design for the FPSO. thyssenkrupp Uhde’s involvement through a Technical Concept Study further fortified the ammonia plant’s foundation, leveraging thyssenkrupp’s uhde® ammonia synthesis technologies.

The project consortium received a Euro 3 million grant from the Dutch government in April 2023, providing crucial support for the advancement of project OFFSET. The consortium’s ultimate objective is to establish a floating hydrogen and/or ammonia production and storage facility, linked to an adjacent wind farm, by 2027.
