The Allach Th2 well was drilled deviated to the north over a length of more than one kilometer at an inclination of around 65 degrees. It had a final depth of 3,104 mMD and 2,110 m TVD, penetrating into the Malmkarst.
Based on a short-term pumping tests done over two weeks, the well supports a production rate of about 100 L/s with a very slight pressure drop and a temperature of over 70 °C. These are aligned with the expectations for the well. Just like Allach Th 1, the Allach Th2 well is considered one of the best Malm wells in the Molasse Basin from a hydraulic perspective.
Drilling of the wells for the geothermal project of MTU officially started at the end of January 2024. The work was done well within the six months allotted for the geothermal doublet.
ERDWERK has been managing the project since 2020, starting with the basic investigation, support in the mining approval process including the application for the Karlsfeld-Ost permit field, the feasibility study, detailed planning, and the tendering process. German drilling company Daldrup & Söhne AG was awarded the general contract for the construction of the geothermal doublet.
