The partnership will focus on adapting Carbon Clean’s CycloneCC technology to MODEC’s FPSO platforms, using the company’s design and technical standards. CycloneCC features a reduced equipment footprint, with some components up to ten times smaller than those used in traditional systems. The latest C1 series offers a 70% height reduction compared to conventional column-based technologies.
This initiative is aligned with MODEC’s ongoing strategy, following its recently announced pilot project with Samsung. The joint effort with Carbon Clean will assess how to scale CycloneCC to match the typical emission profiles of MODEC’s FPSOs. The objective is to determine the potential for integrating post-combustion carbon capture (PCC) systems into future FPSO developments as a standard feature.
If successful, the collaboration may lead to the construction of an offshore PCC pilot plant tailored to selected projects. This effort supports MODEC’s mid-term plan to incorporate advanced emission control technologies in its offshore operations.
